Design does not begin with beauty.
It begins with understanding.

From a child’s pencil lines
to spaces that carry meaning

Give Warakorn (Warakorn Termwattanapakdee) is an interior designer who believes that good design does not begin with beauty, but with understanding: understanding who a person is, how they live, and which small details turn a space into a place where they can truly be themselves.

As Design Director and co-founder of Gratitude Design, Give’s work spans hospitality and retail to residential spaces, and has been recognised by several international design institutions. Behind the awards and recognition, however, lies a simple and steady philosophy: good design must reflect identity, create feeling, and give meaning to every detail.

Roots

Growing Up with Space

Give never felt there was a single day on which she fell in love with design. It seeped into her life gradually, from childhood. She was a child who was always drawing and sketching, while growing up in a family close to the world of construction.

Her father ran a construction business, Sinpakdee Karnyotha, which gave Give the chance to visit building sites from an early age, watching craftsmen at work, touching materials, and observing how a space slowly came into being, from what was once only an idea or a line on paper to a real place people could live inside.

Her mother ran a furniture shop that made its own pieces, so materials, craftsmanship, proportion, and small details surrounded her from the start, without her yet realising that these things were quietly shaping the way she looked at space.

After secondary school, Give chose the path of architecture, and ultimately studied interior design at the Faculty of Architecture and Design, King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok. She had discovered a particular fascination with detail, sometimes at the level of a millimetre, and felt that these smallest of things could change a space’s proportion, function, and feeling to an extraordinary degree.

Gratitude Design

Design that begins with gratitude

The more she learned from real projects, in designing, working with clients, and bringing an idea to life, the more Give discovered that she was not interested only in making a space beautiful, but in how a space could tell the story of a person or a brand; and that the relationship between designer and client mattered as much as the result.

The name Gratitude Design comes from the word gratitude, because Give believes that a thank-you is one of the simplest beginnings of a good relationship: between people, between people and space, and between people and what they receive from one another.

For her, design is not only about creating something new. It is about receiving something from people, experiences, and opportunities, then interpreting it and passing it on in a new form. Sometimes that is a space that lets someone feel more themselves; sometimes an experience that makes people remember a brand; and sometimes knowledge that helps the next generation see something differently.

This has been the heart of Gratitude Design from day one: design that begins with understanding, grows through relationships, and ultimately gives something of value back to others.

The Turning Point

The Turning Point

First steps under her own name

Just seven days after graduating, Give began her first job, with the opportunity to work alongside an international interior design firm. Looking back, every place she worked was a generous teacher; each gave her opportunities, guidance, and room to learn from real projects when her experience was still thin. Those lessons became the foundation she carries with her to this day.

After about six years in interior design, Give was recommended to enter a design competition for a major property developer: three show houses for a luxury housing estate, all at once. When the company saw her commitment and her way of working, it entrusted her with the design of the clubhouse and all of the project’s common areas as well.

That project became the most important beginning of all, because it was the first time she worked under the name Gratitude Design. There was no large team then, and none of the company structure of today; Give did almost every job herself, from concept and design to coordination, problem-solving, and following the work on site.

The early days were not all beautiful. Mistakes born of inexperience were far from rare, and some nights she could not sleep for the weight of the responsibility in front of her. But one thing she learned is that when a problem arises, we may not be able to undo what has already happened, but we can always steady ourselves, see the problem clearly, solve it one piece at a time, and keep moving. Every mistake slowly became experience; every project became a lesson. To this day, Give feels she did not grow from a single great leap, but from a great many small steps.

Tailored Luxury

Luxury, tailored to the individual

Good design is not only beautiful; it must reflect identity, create feeling, and give meaning to every detail.
Design should feel personal, intentional and meaningful.

Give’s signature is what she calls Tailored Luxury: luxury designed for the individual, attentive to proportion, materials, texture, light, and details that appear calm yet hold a quiet depth. She is not bound to any one style, believing that the best space is one designed around the person who will live in it, rather than one that asks a person to adapt to a style.

For inspiration, Give admires the work of Kelly Wearstler, Joyce Wang, and Brigette Romanek, particularly the way these designers use materials, form, and art to create spaces with an unmistakable character that needs little explanation. What she most hopes clients remember after working together is the feeling that Give understood who they are and how they live, and turned that into a space with a true identity, one that endures.

Teaching & Community

From designer to teacher and community

Beyond her role as a designer, Give has been a special lecturer in interior design for more than six years at King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok, teaching both Interior Design and Interior Design Management. She also initiated Design Walk, taking students out of the classroom to learn from real spaces, because she believes that seeing and experiencing a space for oneself is a lesson no textbook can give.

In 2026, Give extended her role from designer to creator of design content, teaching, and community, through many formats: from Design Education and Design Minute to knowledge of materials and composition, site visits, and glimpses behind the life of an interior designer and the perspective of a creative business, combining short, easily digestible pieces with long-form content on YouTube.

All of this led to the founding of Design Walk with Ajarn Give, a community for students, alumni, and design professionals who gather to learn how to read real spaces, exchange experiences, and build a network, reflecting the belief in passing things on that has been at the heart of Gratitude Design from the very beginning.

Today & Forward

A good home is not measured by luxury
but by the feeling of every day lived within it

For Give, being a designer is not a destination but a journey that continues: learning from people, business, art, culture, and even things that seem unrelated to design, because in the end every experience returns to add some new perspective to the work. Whether it is a house, a condominium, or a space someone wants to hold meaning, her belief remains as simple as ever.
